If you're new to selling on Walmart, you'll notice a few extra tabs in your Walmart Listings Manager that you won't see on other channels. These reflect listing statuses that are unique to Walmart: Processing, Unpublished, and Retired. Here's what each one means and why your listings end up there.
Processing
Unlike most other sales channels, Walmart listings don't necessarily publish right away. When you publish or update a listing, it often enters a temporary Processing state, which means Walmart hasn't accepted the listing yet.
This happens because Walmart runs listing updates through its own internal compliance checks to confirm the listing meets Walmart's platform standards. This review happens entirely on Walmart's side, not in Sellbrite, and Walmart has stated it can take up to 31 hours to complete.
Unpublished
Sometimes a listing moves from Active to Unpublished. This is determined entirely by Walmart, not Sellbrite. The most common reason is price sensitivity: if Walmart determines a listing isn't priced competitively enough, it automatically unpublishes the item. If you're unsure if why your listings have been unpublished, you can download an Item Report to learn why.
Retired
Sellbrite lets you end a listing directly from Sellbrite, but Walmart refers to this as "retiring" the listing. Only retire an item when you want to stop selling it entirely, since retiring isn't easily reversible.
A few things to know about retired listings:
It can take 24-48 hours for a listing to fully deactivate and unpublish from the site.
If a listing's quantity drops to 0, it doesn't automatically become retired. It just becomes unavailable for purchase until restocked.
Retired items no longer appear on Walmart.com, but Walmart keeps the listing data in its system.
You can't reuse the SKU or Product ID from a retired item. If you need to change the SKU or Product ID, refer to Walmart's How to Update an Item's SKU or How to Update an Item's Product ID articles.
