Understanding and Creating Custom Attributes

Learn how to create and apply custom attributes to your products in Sellbrite.

Written by Holland Rocha

What are Custom Attributes?

Custom Attributes allow you to store additional product information beyond Sellbrite's standard product fields.

By default, Sellbrite includes basic product information such as product name, brand, manufacturer, and pricing. Custom Attributes let you create your own fields to track information specific to your products, such as:

  • Style

  • Color

  • Length

  • Material

  • Pattern

Custom Attributes can help you organize product data, improve catalog management, and store information that isn't included in Sellbrite's default product fields.

Create a Custom Attribute

To create a new Custom Attribute, go to Settings > Custom Product Attributes.

Enter the name of your attribute and select + Add.

For example, you might create an attribute called color.

Creating the attribute only adds the field itself. You'll add the actual values for that attribute on individual products or through a CSV import.

Note: Custom Attribute names are case-sensitive. Be consistent with capitalization when creating attributes.

What is an Attribute Value?

An Attribute Value is the information stored within a Custom Attribute.

For example:

Vintage

To add an Attribute Value:

  1. Open a product you want to update

  2. Select the Custom Attributes tab

  3. Choose the attribute from the dropdown

  4. Enter the value

NOTE: Custom Attributes will not appear on a product until a value has been assigned.

Common uses for Custom Attributes

Custom Attributes can be used for much more than item specifics. Many sellers use them to store additional product data that helps with catalog management, listing creation, and reporting.

Common examples include:

  • Secondary category field for easier CSV management.

  • A notes field for any purpose (inventory, product line, supplier note, etc.)

  • Additional condition notes for your team

  • Designated fields for return policy, shipping policy, etc. for inserting into in dynamic descriptions

  • Channel-specific listing titles

  • Hosted image URLs for inserting additional product images into your description
