The Walmart.com Onboarding Process

Learn about the Onboarding process for Walmart.com.

Written by Elliot K

The Walmart.com Onboarding team has a six stage process for each new merchant selling on the platform. This process isn't visible from within Sellbrite, so use this article as a reference for where your account likely stands at any given point during onboarding.

Stage 1: Approval

Before anything else, you need approval to sell on Walmart.com. If you haven't applied yet, you can do so here. Merchants who apply through Sellbrite tend to get approved faster than those who apply directly.

Once approved, you're in Stage 1, and you'll wait for Walmart.com to reach out and advance you to Stage 2. This stage is often the longest wait for new sellers, but the process moves fairly quickly once you're through it.

Stage 2: Complete Registration

After your account is approved, you will receive an email inviting you to complete the Registration process. Learn more about how to complete the Walmart Registration process here

During this stage, you'll provide documentation about your business, including a W-9 form, banking information, and general company details. Once you've submitted everything requested, you'll move on to completing your Partner Profile.

Stage 3: Partner Profile

Next, complete your Partner Profile in the Walmart.com portal. Your Partner Profile includes all the customer-facing information about you as a seller, such as shipping options, return policy, and tax information.

Log in to your Walmart.com portal to complete this information and move past this stage. Learn more about how to complete your Walmart Partner Profile here.

Stage 4: Item Setup

Once your Partner Profile is complete, you've reached Stage 4, and you can connect your Walmart.com channel to Sellbrite.

Item Setup involves publishing a portion of your products to Walmart Seller Center so you can run order testing. Walmart requires you to publish 1,000 items or 10% of your catalog, whichever is fewer.

You can publish items to Walmart from the Products page in Sellbrite, and creating templates for your categories can speed up this process. Learn more about Walmart Listing Templates here.

Stage 5: Order Testing

Once your items are uploaded to Seller Center, Walmart's onboarding team runs test orders to confirm they pass through to Sellbrite correctly and get acknowledged. You'll work directly with the onboarding team during this stage.

Stage 6: Go Live

Once you pass order testing, your items go live for sale on Walmart.com. From this point forward, you can publish items to Walmart without restrictions or delays.

Stage 7: Add 2-Day Shipping Tags (Optional)

You can sign up for Walmart Free 2-Day Shipping through Flexport, which adds 2-Day Shipping tags to your listings and can increase their visibility on the marketplace.
